- I read the documentation, and did this in order to print from
- one NeXT to another NeXT that has a printer, over ethernet but
- not using netinfo:
-
- 1. Added the host name of the computer without the printer to
- /etc/hosts.lpd.
- 2. Added a /etc/printcap to the NeXT without the printer indicating
- the one with a printer, and also niload'ed that into that machine.
-
- The printer can be selected and printed to on the machine with no
- printer. However, the stuff just sits in the spool directory, and
- the status file there says it's waiting for the queue on the machine
- with the printer to be activated. I've rebooted both machines after
- the changes. Printing works fine on the machine with the printer.
-
- A possibly related problem is that the PrintManager doesn't show the
- status or all the junk in the spool directory when I press Queue ...
-
- It seems close, but I seem to be missing something. Any clues?
