  23. This is probably going to show up as the 20th followup answer to this
  24. question, but here goes.

  26. The list is kept in /etc/shells.  If the file does not exists, then only
  27. /bin/sh and /bin/csh are accepted.  Look at /usr/local/bin/bash if you're
  28. interested in alternative shells.
