  13. After a disappointing experience upgrading to 3.0 (another sad story), 
  14. I just ran into the following problem with the Mail application:

  16. I normally have Mail autolaunched at log-in, but now it bombs 
  17. immediately.  The problem seems to be associated with trying to open 
  18. my Active.mbox. Here are some observations:
  19.  
  20. 1-  I can launch Mail by double clicking on other mailboxes.  But if 
  21. I try to open Active.mbox thru the Mailboxes button, it kills Mail.
  22.  
  23. 2- If I launch mail from a shell, here's what happens:
  24. next1> /NextApps/Mail.app/Mail 
  25. Bus error
  26.  
  27. 3-  other users (root) on the same machine don't have this problem 
  28. with their own mailbox.
  29.  
  30. 4- I can open the troublesome Active.mbox using the unix mail utility, ie:
  31. next1> mail -f /Users/seidl/Mailboxes/Active.mbox/mbox
  32. Mail version 5.3 2/18/88.  Type ? for help.

  38. 5- I made a CopyOfActive.mbox, but when I double-click on it, it bombs.
  39.  
  40. 6- If I then make a brand new Active.mbox, it works - but I still cannot 
  41. access the mail in CopyOfActive.mbox with Mail.app.

  44. Did the Active.mbox get corrupted somehow? Is the problem is not 
  45. directly related to the switch to 3.0??
