  15.     For those of you who's running TransSys DialUpIP  SLIP and  
  16. constantly use commands of 'slipup', 'slipdown', [retrieving mails from  
  17. remote sites],etc; SlipCommander.app is a Must-See tiny useful Apps for  
  18. all you SLIPpers. The AUTO-REDIAL  makes your life so much easier while  
  19. connecting to a BUSY modem spool.  Enclosed is the README of  
  20. SlipCommander0.9.

  22.                             -Slip Commander -
  23.  
  24.     SlipCommander is a NeXTStep Interface of the SLIP commands  
  25. provided in the TransSys DialUpIP  SLIP package by Louis A. Mamakos.

  27. Warning:

  29.     1. You must have the TransSys DialUpIP  SLIP package installed and  
  30. fully tested  for the connection first.
  31.  
  32.     2. You must be in the 'wheel'  group to run SlipCommander. The  
  33. rootpassword is required each time for setting up the preference.  The  
  34. information is securely encrypted in the file - "(home)/.SlipCommander"
  35.  
  36.     3. The Mail Retrieving command script using ftp must be customized  
  37. for your site. Two sample scripts for retrieving mails from 1 & 2 sites  
  38. are provided.  
  39.  
  40.     4. SlipCommander was implemented under NS2.1, if there's a  
  41. conflicts with NS3.0, a patch will be made when I receive my 3.0 upgrade.

  43.     5. This is not released as a FreeWare, see donation below....

  47.     1. Place SlipCommander.app under /LocalApps or ~Apps.

  49.     2. Modify the Mail Script and place it under any directory path.  
  50. (be sure to 'chmod +x' of it)

  52.     3. Run Preference in SlipCommander.app.

  59. -SLIP connect/disconnect - Slip Commander simplifies the frequently-used   
  60. SLIP commands such as 'slipup', 'slipdown', 'duioctl',etc.  In the attempt  
  61. of making a connection,   Slip Commander can monitor the process; in case  
  62. of a FAILCALL(BUSY), it will automatically redial after a period of time  
  63. until the connection is established.

  65. -Remote mails retrieval - retrieving the mails stored on the remote sites  
  66. is just a button click away.

  68. -SLIP connection monitoring -  the connection status are clearly displayed  
  69. in the Inspector.  So, next time the LED on your modem goes  off, you  
  70. won't be left in the dark.
