- Todays RenderMan question: How's does one get shadows?? And why
- isn't automatic? (i.e. You have a wall, you put a spotlight behind
- the wall, why isn't there a shadow??
-
- >From reading portions of the RenderMan Companion, it seems that
- you have to create a shadow map first and then render the scene
- again and use the shadow map to get the shadows.
-
- I tried the following in my RIB file:
-
- Display "test.z" "file" "rgbz"
-
- This seems to create the shadow map file (I assume). But then I can't
- load in the shadow map file in the second pass. I've tried stuff like:
-
- Declare "shadowname" "string"
- MakeShadow "test.z" "myShadow"
- LightSource "shadowspot" 5 "shadowname" "myShadow" "from" [0 0 0]
- "to" [0 1 0]
-
- Any thoughts?
