  18. will return info on most Internet sites.  For information on a
  19. .uiuc.edu domain address, say 'whois -h nic.ddn.mil uiuc.edu'.  For
  20. information on sites containing the word 'Illinois', say 'whois -h
  21. nic.ddn.mil Illinois'
  22. I am including the explicit -h because NeXTSTEP 2.x's 'whois' still
  23. has the old arpanet address for the NIC, and you must use the
  24. nic.ddn.mil address nowadays.
  25. Also, just because it is in the .mil domain, don't let it fool you -
  26. it has a fairly complete list of every domain registered on the
  27. whole Internet.    Note that you cannot say 'whois
  28. ux1.cso.uiuc.edu'... it only knows domain names, not machine names.
