- After reading the documentation and doing some experimentation, it
- doesn't seem possible to use the Apple Installer to install files to the
- same disk as the one on which the Installer is located.
-
- The reason I need to do this is as follows. The user will receive a new
- version of our application through a nightly modem link. These files will
- be sitting in an "In Box" on the user's hard disk, and I would like
- to be able to have these files moved into the correct place on the hard
- disk, deleting previous versions.
-
- As far as I can see, the Apple Installer will not let me do this. I
- find this hard to believe, and I was wondering if anyone had found
- a way to work around this limitation? If not, are there any other
- free or licenseable installer programs which would do the job? Any help
- would be appreciated as I'd like to avoid having to write my own
- installer program.
