  14. After reading the documentation and doing some experimentation, it
  15. doesn't seem possible to use the Apple Installer to install files to the
  16. same disk as the one on which the Installer is located.
  17.  
  18. The reason I need to do this is as follows.  The user will receive a new 
  19. version of our application through a nightly modem link.  These files will
  20. be sitting in an "In Box" on the user's hard disk, and I would like
  21. to be able to have these files moved into the correct place on the hard
  22. disk, deleting previous versions.

  24. As far as I can see, the Apple Installer will not let me do this.  I
  25. find this hard to believe, and I was wondering if anyone had found
  26. a way to work around this limitation?  If not, are there any other
  27. free or licenseable installer programs which would do the job?  Any help
  28. would be appreciated as I'd like to avoid having to write my own 
  29. installer program.
