- Hi, all; forgive FAQs -- I checked as much as I could
-
- I'm a very intermediate programmer and have two questions for all
- available wizards:
-
- a) What is the recognised kocher way of getting a folder choice from
- the user (i.e. Have the user designate a folder for a specific oper-
- ation) I've seen hundreds of different dialogs and methods of doing
- this, with varying degrees of intuitiveness. Is there an official
- Apple stance on this? And if there isn't, what is the cleverest and
- tidiest way of pulling it off (Preferably to get an FSSpec (Does that
- work for folders?) or other such 7.0 structure)
-
- b) What the *(^* is the structure of a 'aete' resource? I heard about
- these wonderful things that (Apparantly) describe Apple Events sup-
- ported by an application, but I can find no mention of it in my
- copy of IM vol VI. Reading the resource in ResEdit with straight hex
- is not getting me very far, because I can't distinguish the class and
- event ID codes from the general garbage of leading bytes, etc. HELP!
-
- c) (Small final question) -- where is the best place to get example
- source? I'm writing a CDEV/INIT for the first time and a friend sent
- me some example source he says he got off ftp.apple.com. I find that
- site incredibly tortuous, and was wondering if someone could give me
- a specific directory that contains example source.
-
- Thanks for your time.

- Please post replies to: CXEO@musica.mcgill.ca since I don't read
- the newsgroup that often.
