- NEC offers several microcontrollers with x86 core, eg. the V40 (internal
- name: 70208; a 16bit version of this chip is called V50 / 70216),),
- a V20 (which contains the full 80286 real mode instruction set and is
- able to emulate 8080 code) with interrupt controller, wait state generator,
- timer, serial port and DMA controller in a 68 pin PGA or PLCC.
- There is another one called V53 (said to be much faster, with nearly the
- performance of an intel 386), but I've never used it.
