- I am considering getting a new PS/2 machine to replace my Model 70-A21.
- (which incidently replaced my Model 50). Anyways, I've been thinking about
- getting one of the new Model 77 machines, which among other things appears
- to have a SCSI port. Now my question resolves around the question of how
- 'compatible' these ports are. I have a MC SCSI Enabler (from Procom) in my
- model 70 and was very displeased when Procom informed me that the only CD ROM
- decks that they would guarantee use the board, was those made by Toshiba. I
- would like a little more choice in hardware vendors. I have from talking to
- to the Procom people, been led to beleive that SCSI on the harddisk front is
- a matter of pretty much 'seamless' compatible, however they seem to be a lot
- of problems with CD-ROM decks. So if I got a Model 77, what choices would I
- have (other than the IBM deck) for getting a CD ROM deck to go in the SCSI
- port?
-
- (heck I'll probably get the 77 anyways, but would still like to know.)
- thanks,
- -Kevin
