- I had the same problem before as I had some problem with my modem in COM 1,
- so I had to remove it and let the mouse as the only device on COM 2. It
- turned out that the windows 3.1 could not recognise the mouse anymore, even
- I tried to reinstall the windows again. The solution to this problem is
- to set the mouse to COM 1, as according to the tech support of my computer,
- windows 3.1 by default tried to find the mouse from COM 1 first before it
- go to other ports. Some devices(especially my errorous modem) if installed
- in COM 1, may interfere with the mouse recognition process and windows may
- be fooled that the mouse is in COM 1, therefore not proceed to the other
- ports to look for a mouse. Hope this helps and other guys please correct
- me if I am wrong.
