  19. There appears to be handwriting on the wall, unfortunately we're not
  20. into the future yet, so we can't rely on hindsight :-)

  22. Compaq and IBM have suddenly made a big 90 deg. turn.  In fact, I was
  23. about to buy Dell (EISA with all the bells and whistles), then found
  24. the IBM model 77 (at educational discount it's a better deal than the
  25. Dell).  I never thought I'd see the day!  There's a change going on
  26. and that handwriting says the smaller players will die out.  My
  27. biggest concern is buying from a company that will be around the next
  28. 5 years (all other considerations being about equal).  I think a lot
  29. of people are seeing things the same way and this is definite trouble
  30. for the smaller clones!
