- The net.consensus on MAG 15" monitors (at least of a month or two ago) is
- that their quality control may not be the most consistent. Also, we should
- probably be careful to differentiate different MAG models; the MAG I have,
- the MX15F (with the LCD display that indicates video mode) seems to get
- better reviews than the other MAG 15" model (the one that Gateway ships
- with their systems). Also, in general, 14" and 17" monitors seem to be
- stable than 15" monitors, for some reason.
-
- For what it's worth, I couldn't be more pleased with my MAG MX15F. Though
- I would have loved to have gotten a 17" monitor, I had neither the space
- nor the money for that. My MX15F's picture has been rock-steady and very
- sharp, with a nice anti-glare flat screen. I'm running it with a Trident
- video card and OS/2, and even with white backgrounds the display is great.
-
- If you don't mind a little bit of risk, I'd say go for the MX15F, but don't
- hesitate to exchange it if the quality is sub-standard. If you need to
- be reasonably sure of getting a great monitor from the box, another brand
- like NEC or Nanao might be better, but for me anyway, the slight gamble
- was worth the few hundred dollars I saved.
-
- Good luck,
