- Hello, I am in the market to buy a new SCSI controller. I was wondering
- which one would be the best to get. Specifically, I want to know the
- advantages and disadvantages between getting a cheaper SCSI controller
- (e.g. generic or small name brand) and a more expensive controller
- (e.g. Ultrastor, Adaptec, Future Domain).
-
- If I were just to use them for controlling a hard drive, would there be
- a difference between the two (at least in terms of compatibility)? Also,
- what do the ASPI (sp?) drivers do? Do you need SCSI drivers for SCSI
- controllers in general?
-
- Please excuse my ignorance, most of my computer experience has been with
- MFM, RLL, IDE controllers. SCSI is an new frontier for me. Seems
- complicated.
-
- Thanks!
