- If you are looking soley to increase the speed of Windows, and you
- are using Windows for serious work (spreadsheets, line drawings,
- word processing, etc.) consider this. I just installed an old TTL
- monochrome card and monitor in my backup 286 16MHz computer and it
- scrolls identical files about twice as fast as my 386SX 33 MHz with
- Genoa 6400 in 800x600/16 color mode. You can buy used cards and
- monitors for about $25 a pair.This is really low-cost graphics
- acceleration -- 'course games don't look so good!
-
- Here's another idea. Does anyone know of anyone working on a multiple
- display system for use with Windows? Something that might provide
- for two or three monitors and the capability of assigning different
- windows to different monitors -- like Program Manager in a central
- color display flanked by a pair of monos running your favorite
- word processor and spread sheet?
