- i've had this problem with a 486 motherboard upgrade ... here the clock
- would invariable stop 5 minutes after powering down ... i sent the board
- back and got a replacement which is better but it still will occasionally
- lose a couple of hours if the machine is switched off over 2 or 3 days.

- i got a tip from someone who had the same problem and discovered that
- somehow the printer was draining power from the cmos battery (!) and
- i've tried this diagnosis and seem to agree as on some unscientific evidence
- so far, it seems that if i disconnect the printer cable when
- the machine is switched off the clock remains ok :-)
