Yes, there's your problem. You're running your ISA bus 50% faster than
specification. I've fooled with my IO Bus speed taking it to 10 and 13.3Mhz
respectively (I have a 40Mhz 386, and that corresponds to clk/4 and clk/3),
and I also get the dropouts with any video card I've tried, including the
SS24X.
The solution is simple. You can slow your bus down to 8Mhz and get perfect
video, or you can run your bus up nice and high, after removing the
zero-wait-state jumper on the card to allow it to insert a wait state at the
50% higher clock, and it will also work fine at that speed.
