- | Would these be the same as the IIISi cartridges?
-
- No, these are yet another different toner cartridge.
-
- | Refill-
- | ing these is an art, Ive heard.. at least the first few we got back from

-
- The same problem was present on early versions of new cartridges
- direct from HP. The problem has since been corrected.

-
- To correct myself, the LaserJet 4 uses an i960 RISC processor. A much
- better choice than an i860.

- | I imagine the hardware may have to be revamped too. Do most clones come
- | with bidirectional ports these days? PS/2's do, from what I have heard..
- | Laplink between two PS/2s screams.
-
- I didn't look into this much, but I believe it's not necessary to have
- a bidirectional parallel port to take advantage of this capability.

- |
- | Actually they've built in quite a few more than 2 PCL5 fonts.
-
- Yes, and there's built-in TrueType font support as well
-
- | I've heard that they have exchangeable network cards, one of which is
- | Localtalk. The intriguing thing is something called a "Unix printer
- | card". What is this? It obviously takes ethernet, but what does it
- | look like to a Unix system? Does it contain an lpd daemon on ROM?
-
- That's about how it works. An Ethernet NIC with an lpd daemon on-
- board. We've got a few of these for our LaserJet IIIsi's, and they
- work fine. Also have some for Novell, and they too work fine.--
