- Presently I have an adaptec 1542B and a Quantum Pro Drive 240
- S. I've seen in the Computer Paper that the Quantum Pro Drive
- with it's 4300 rpms as opposed to 3600 rpms of standard HD's
- as well as it's 256K Segmented Read/Write Cache is supposed to
- give me hard drive transfer rates up to 3.8 MBs per second.
- The adaptec 1542B with it's bus mastering DMA access is
- supposed to do up to 5MBs per second too isn't it?
-
- My bios version is 3.10 and my ASPI4dos is version 3.0.
- PCtools and Norton Utilites report hard drive transfer rates
- of only around 1175 K per second. What's wrong?
-
- Also does a SCSI II controller that has the capability to
- burst up to 10MB per second have to be used on a SCSI II hard
- drive to achieve these rates? I'm wondering because I
- currently have an UltraStor 34F VL-BUS SCSI II controller on
- order and I wanted to use it with my Quantum 240S Pro Drive.
-
- Any helpful information will be appreciated.
