  10. Is anyone using the Jumbo 250mb tape backup with PCTools backup program?
  11. If so, my questions are:
  12. (I first format the tape in PCTools backup and use error correction,
  13.  QIC-80 format (not PCTools format), minimize-time compression)
  14.  
  15. 1.  Did you ever do compare after the backup?
  16.     After the comparison (assuming all the files matched), how many
  17.     recoverable errors do you get?
  18.     I got something like 115 recoverable errors after comparing 
  19.     about 290mb of data on 3 tapes.  All files matched.  Is this normal?
  20.     I do not get any recoverable errors after backup, though.
  21.     These are "Carlisle" tapes.  I also have 3-M and I think I got   
  22.     similar results.

  24. 2.  Is new PCTools version 8 any good?
  25.     I'm using v7.1 currently, and the only enhancement useful for me
  26.     in v8 is the better handling of tape backups (according to their
  27.     advertisement).
  28.     How good is "better handling" compared to v7.1?
  29.     At least, I saw they had an option of formatting the tape in v8.

  31. 3.  Is Colorado's tape controller (16bit one) worth the money?  Does it
  32.     really double the backup speed?  I'm using 386DX-33 machine.
