  16. I have the following problem. By accident I started writing (with tar) at
  17. the beginning of a DAt tape which already had several tar archives on it.
  18. Is there any way of getting the tape positioned after the new end of tape
  19. mark, so that I can access the data that is still on there somewhere?

  21. Tar, mt, and dd will not let you do this. I have also tried to break off
  22. a tar process to stop an end of tape being written, but this doesn't work
  23. either: the error handling will always place two tapemarks at the end of 
  24. the tar archive.

  26. Are there any programs to position the tape a specified position or will
  27. that not help me?
