- The connectivity pack includes a 4 pin (the serial port on the 95 is 4 pin)
- to 9 pin cable and a 9 to 25 adaptor, as well as the software. The 9 to 25
- adaptor by itself is around $6 (at Radio Shack). Oddly, if you buy the
- 4 to 9 pin cable from HP separately (without the connectivity pack, the 9 to
- 25 pin adaptor doesn't come with it and isn't available separately (but can
- be obtained from Radio Shack). You can get an adaptor kit direct from HP,
- but that is a modem and a printer 9 to 25 pin adaptor, not a computer 9 to 25
- pin adaptor (the difference is gender and DTE vs DCE).
-
- The 95 comes with kermit and xmodem protocol built in so if you have either
- of those available on your PC, you can get buy. The connectivity pack
- does include software to allow you to remotely mount your 95's disks as a
- network disk off your PC (so you can access the files without copying them
- over) as well as providing the application set from the 95 on your PC. On
- advantage of having the application set on your PC as well frequent backups
- on your PC is that if your 95 is lost or stolen (or otherwise unavailable
- for a period of time), you still have access to the data stored in your
- backup, including the specialized applications that use non-text files for
- storing their data (phone book, calculator equation solver, appointment book,
- etc).
