- Hi Folks,
-
- A customer with a pair of 3B2s is running OSI networking
- (with Starlan), and they are about to go with RFS to share disk
- files. They also want to run rlogin and remote shell services
- between the two, but we hear that this kind of thing is only
- available via TCP/IP.
-
- The cost of TCP/IP for two machines is not very much under
- $10k (!), and they are unexcited about this route. I have used
- TCP on the 3B2 and have not been really impressed with the
- quality of implementation.
-
- Anybody have any ideas on how we can do this? I know so
- little about networking internals that I have no idea how hard it
- would be to convert the TCP/IP utilities that do this to the OSI
- business, but it would not surprise me if this is nontrivial. It
- would surprise me even more if I were the only one who ever had
- this requirement.
-
- Anybody got any ideas? We don't mind rolling our own as
- long as we have some prospect of a reliable solution.
-
- Please respond via email; the customer is pretty hot for
- this.
-
- Stephen
