- George Robbins (from Commodore, how 'bout that. Nice guy, really.) just posted
- the specs in comp.sys.atari.st.tech. List price for a 1MB machine with no
- internal hard drive is supposed to be around $799.

- I've heard a fair amount about a 68040 version, but it's not going to be
- available any time soon. I wouldn't expect to see it in the next 3 months,
- anyway.
-
- Hm, videophone, interesting idea, but not something we can do over the current
- phone network, is it? I've seen some AT&T blurbs about videophone technology,
- using some new compression scheme and only sending something like 10 frames per
- second, very low rez. Maybe that's over the existing phone network, but I
- think it's targeted at a digital optical network... I guess it's a cool idea
- but I don't think its time has come yet. (Besides, I'm more often thankful that
- the other end *can't* see me than I'm wishful about seeing the other end. Must
- be all those callers waking me out of a sound sleep... }-)
