- Greetings,
-
- I just recieved the TOS 2.06 ROMs I ordered a couple of weeks ago
- from CodeHead. The package is really slick. I popped out my old ROMs, put
- in the new ones, and then hit the section about "jumper" settings. I hunted
- around for about five minutes, looking for the "jumpers" W102, W103, and
- W104 without finding them. Then I started looking closer at the system
- board, at the printing, instead of just looking for jumpers. Aha! There
- they are...right beside the ROMs...only they aren't jumpers, they're
- resistors, soldered right into the board.... So, I said, "S#*t." And that's
- where I'm at still.
-
- So, what do I do? Continue using TOS 1.4? Desolder the resistors
- from the system board and resolder them in the correct positions? I am
- hesitant to apply a soldering iron to my system board. Could I install
- jumpers of my own, or are these resistors critical? (I can't tell what
- value they are as they have been painted over.) This makes me quite angry.
-
- Oh, yes, I should mention that the "jumpers" are soldered into the
- wrong points for the new ROMs, according to the docs CodeHead sent me, and
- I tend to believe the docs...my system won't come up when I power it on.
-
- Can anyone give me some advice? What do these jumpers do? Are they
- involved in addressing the new ROMs? Help!
