- MANY netters have asked me for info about the floptical. It is too time
- consuming to send individual replies so here is a general post:
-
- To use a floptical, you need one of the following configurations:
-
- TT with SCSI port -- SCSI cable -- floptical (cable comes with floptical)
-
- ST/STE with DMA port -- LINK DMA to SCSI adapter on SCSI cable -- floptical
-
- The only difference is that ST/STE systems do not have SCSI ports so you
- have to add the LINK DMA to SCSI adapter onto the end of the SCSI cable.
-
- Run the ICD boot program that comes with the LINK adapter and voila, you
- can access the floptical (your computer sees this as another hard disk so
- you will have to install another desk icon).
-
- It's that simple. It's all available from TOAD (I sell to the CDN market
- but I do not post my company's name on the net to avoid commercial conflict)
-
- BTW, the floptical R/W 1.44 and 720 disks; currently no way to format them
- on the floptical because these formats are used for floppies and the
- floptical is treated as a hard disk. Sounds like a quick job for the
- Codeheads!!!
