- Well, if you've got at least 10 Mb of disk space available, there's a working
- version of TeX called CS-TeX4 on atari.archive.umich.edu, and some general
- intros to TeX itself. It works fine on my 1040 ST, using a DeskJet printer.
- Be sure to use the shell, and the English (as opposed to German) version.
-
- TeX is widely used, and is especially popular with physicists and mathmeticians.
- The American Mathematical Society has contributed a set of fonts (ams); many
- fonts, macros, etc. are available through the net, as well as ftp-anonymous
- distributions of the source. TeX is a typesetting language, so there is a bit
- of a learning curve; it's probably best learned from someone else.
-
- Well, I also understand there's a version of Word Perfect for the ST line, but
- I can't vouch for it. At a more primitive level, I think ST Writer may allow
- half-line moves and the output of printer codes, so you can access symbol fonts
- and other tricks, if you know your printer real well. But it's hard to beat
- the quality of TeX output.
