- Here's a weird one:

- I tried editing a file in the current directory with vi (SteVi,or
- something like that)

- Seems if I don't have a '.' in the filename, vi doesn't see it and
- opens up a new file instead.
- If I edit the new file and save it, vi puts a '.' at the end of the
- filename.

- I've gone to different directories and tried this, with the same
- result.

- If I exit mint and run gulam, then the vi editor works fine.

- Is there some kind of variable I'm forgetting to set in Mint?
