- I just got the AutoArc demo, and to tell the truth, I am a bit
- disappointed. Andy, mayhaps you can tell me if HardPressed does a
- might bit better job than A.A. does! When packing a folder, such as
- AppleWorks GS, each file in the folder is packed individually. When
- it comes time to run AWGS, only the main file is called and unpacked,
- and then the program crashes. I would have liked to see AA check
- to see if AppleWorks.GS was in my archive, and then unpack the
- whole durn archive and run the file. As it is, I could only unpack
- the file that I want to address, and that doesn't save that much
- room in most cases. (Especially games - the things that would most
- likely be compressed.) Does HardPressed handle this any differently?
- How about TrueType Fonts? Another good candidate for packing. I
- don't use a lot of them, but want them at my fingertips for when
- I need that "perfect" typeface. With only a 20 meg HD, space really
- matters to me on my /system partition.
-
- Anyways, if someone is associated with Econ, maybe you can console me
- and tell me that if the demo was as good as the real thing, then
- noone would buy the real thing, and that these problems have been
- fixed in the release version. But more likely, I think maybe you
- can take back some of these ideas to make AutoArc just a bit more
- friendly. :-) Otherwise, I like it!
