- I have just received 4 megs of DRAM from a Quadra 950 which will no longer
- be needing them. I have attempted to put them into the last 4 rows of
- my OctoRAM card (R.I.P MDIdeas) and have the set proper jumpers for 8
- meg operation. Yet my GS refuses to boot properly anymore (it just starts
- and then dumps to the monitor early on) even though it thinks it
- has 8 megs o' RAM in the RAM disk CDA. The built in memory test
- seems to think everything is okay, but I have no way of knowing that
- its going after the upper RAM in the test. I know people have put 8 megs
- into GS's before, but I can't! The memory is the 1 Meg x 2 style which
- means that only 2 chips are on the SIMM boards, unlike the existing
- ones that are 1 x 8's. TYpically, I wouldn't expect this to be a problem,
- but who knows? Does anyone out there have an idea on what could be
- wrong here? I have reseated the memory three times with no success.
