- Well, having just recently helped some friends figure out the same on their
- Mac, .hqx represents BINHEX format, which appears to be a file shell similar
- to MacBinary. It is equivalent to Binary II in the apple II world being used
- on Shrinkit files for the BXY format. You'll notice that most of the .hqx
- files (at least the ones I've seen) have names like xxx.sit.hqx, so they're
- still packed by an archive utility like Stuffit or Compactor. Binhex may
- actually be an ASCII utility like Binscii for all I know. I've never
- attempted looking at a file that I FTPed without Binhex mode on.
