- In a previous article, Ty_Sarna@fcircus.sat.tx.us (Ty Sarna) says:
- >I agree, we need make the general programming public start using the OS;
- >HOWEVER, C= DOES need to provide the Linux, Mach, and other alternate-OS

-
- Sorry. The whole nature of operating systems such as Linux, Mach
- and BSD is that they are source released. If CBM doesn't provide
- publicly accessable documentation to these people, the Amiga will just
- be dropped as a platform to bother to support these operating systems
- on.
-
- I know that I myself have been getting real frustrated with a lot
- of things lately to do with operating systems/etc. The responses to
- my DTR issue from a CBM employee, and a few past-employee's have just
- made me begin to think all over again why it is that I bother to
- try to support AmigaDos.
-
- Since I have some very nice fast hardware
- here (A3000, etc) I have thought that it would be interesting to
- move to Mach (And I have been reading the amiga-mach mailing list
- for a long time). I would hate to see the situation where the number
- of people with un-ducmented hardware platforms made writing software that
- supported those platforms not worth doing. I'd hate to end up having to
- buy some slow EISA 486 or something due to a lack of documention on
- CBM's part.
-
- It's funny that while one shared library (serial.device) gets
- me ticked, it's other shared libraries like xpr*.library,
- xferq.library, etc that keep me with the Amiga.
