  32.     Hmm.. although this discussion is very entertaining.. it does raise
  33. one point: the hardware manual comes in handy for non-OS programming.
  34. Consider this: the 4000 (a realtively fast machine) would be very nice
  35. with UNIX. But.. Commodore's record as far as UNIX is concerned is well,
  36. not very good (to say the least). So their are several other efforts
  37. currently underway, but in order to port over a new OS, you need to know
  38. about the machines *hardware*... otherwise your job will become very 
  39. difficult. So.. in the interest of helping those who wish to undertake
  40. such things as a port of UNIX to new machines, Commodore should release
  41. an hardware manual for the machine.
