- Yes, (or no), HIRES screens *do* munge not only speech synthesis, but also
- audio in general as well as serial port throughput and probably a few
- other things. I believe the technical reason is too much contention for
- DMA channels, but not sure. If you cut your bitplanes to 2 or 4 colors,
- the problem mostly goes away, but I have found that Workbench resolution
- screens are best for non-graphic applications which require speech or audio.
