  25. Yes, it's called OCR - "Optical Character Recognition". 
  26. The only company who makes Amiga OCR software (as far as I know)
  27. is MiGraph. Their software will drive their own hand scanners,
  28. and/or it can be used to post-process scanned text from non-
  29. supported scanners, as long as the scan is saved at a high enough
  30. DPI setting (dots per inch) in IFF or TIFF formats.  The software
  31. actually works pretty much as advertised, but I gotta tell ya 
  32. the process of scanning and then recognizing and then fixing
  33. up the text is slow enough that if you are a very fast typist
  34. (100wpm or so) you could type in text fater than you could scan
  35. and recognize and save it.
