I have been wrestling with this for a few hours now and haven't really
gotten anywhere....
I have my new tape drive hooked up to my GVP Combo board and it seems
to respond properly.. the magtape command will rewind and retension it,
and HDBackup appears to write to it.. the problem is that it uses up
an entire 150 meg tape by the time it reaches 15 megs of hard drive,
then starts running backwards through the tape and starts foward again.
no errors occur at all the whole time. I doubt it is writing to the
tape since my screen blanker (set at a low priority) slows down quite
a bit when the hard drive is accessed, but is unaffected by access to
the tape. When I try to restore anything it just locks up the machine.
I think I have the brutab file set up properly, but I hae no mountlist
entry for the drive.. do I need one ? and most importantly, what does
a mountlist entry look like for a tape drive ?
