  11. Seagate bought out what hat been CDC's disk drive operation -- meaning that
  12. the high end Seagates have a different pedigree than the low end ones that
  13. got the reputation of being slow, cranky, and susceptible to destruction. 
  14. The CDC-ancestry drives were designed originally for supporting
  15. supercomputers......  and were/are fast, large, reliable, and of very high
  16. reputation.
