  14. Last saturday I went to the SIMO, a large exhibition of office equipment held
  15. here in Madrid. Of course, the first thing I did was to find the Commodore's
  16. stand. It was pathetic. They had three A500s running games, a couple of A600s
  17. and A3000s, two CDTV units sitting in a dark corner, one A2000 running a morph
  18. demo and one, only one, BROKEN A4000. It seems that the hard disk didn't survive
  19. the first day of the show.

  21. Anyway, what it really drew my attention was the A4000 brochure. The possible
  22. configurations listed there were:

  24.     * A4000-40/40: 40M Hard Disk. Desktop
  25.     * A4000-40/120: 120M Hard Disk. Desktop
  26.     * A4000-40/213: 213M Hard Disk. Tower
  27.  
  28. Is this correct? There exist a A4000 tower or is it a mistake of Commodore
  29. Spain? (I wouldn't be surprised).

  31. I was also surprised by the A4000 price: only 379900 ptas ($3332) w/o monitor. I
  32. still remember when the A3000 was announced 2 years ago; the cheapest costed
  33. around $6000.

  35. Apart from that, the only interesting thing was the Vortex 486SLC bridgeboard.
  36. It was installed on a A3000 with a ET4000 VGA board and a second monitor. They
  37. were installing Windows and it seemed to work. I asked the guy about the
  38. problems I have with the PC expansion boards in my Vortex 386SX BB and he
  39. confirmed that this BB have some problems with them but this is solved in the
  40. new 486SLC.
