- As you might see by reading my signature, I got a MMR too. Well, your troubles
- sound a lot like the ones I had and were one of the following things:
-
- * Bad connection between the MMR and the 68000 socket on the A500 motherboard.
- (just press the board to make a tighter fit... don't press too hard or
- the board might break)
-
- * The overclocking... I strongly suggest you to test with a different oscillator
-
- * THE ONE MOST LIKELY (and the one that explains why sometimes your machine
- crashed and why sometimes it didn't):
-
- OVERHEATING OF THE AGNUS (SUPER-AGNUS). I went through quite an adventure
- to find out this problem. This happens that since the A500 is not designed
- to have a MMR inside it, it can overheat the Agnus making the machine crash.
- This happened to me usually when I had to use the Math coprocessor and I had
- no 32-bit memory on where to run the program.
-
- My solution: put a fan that cools the computer (or air conditioner, whatever).
- The is a project on the November issue of Amazing computing on how to put a
- fan to your A500. I am assumming of course, that you have an A500.
-
- * Use of the ARP library. Solution: DON'T use it! Use C='s original libraries!
-
- This made in my machine, also those random graphic lines. When I say "don't
- use the Arp library" I don't mean the "arp.library" file, but the "Arp C: replacements",
- and the ARp-shell.
-
- Final words: If you got any trouble, talk to Memory World. To me, they
- provided excellent service. If you talk to CSA, unless you talk to Steve Ryker
- you will most likely will hear a lot of crap. Also, if you have an Supra hardisk/ram
- adapter, I have heard that it might have some problems....
