- Gurus,
-
- A friend and I just installed an adspeed and adIDE/Quantum 52lps IDE into his
- 500. I connected the 6 watt consuming hard drive to the floppy power connector
- and everything seemed to work fine (note: this system has a bigfoot power supply
- ). Shortly later some pixels on the screen (of a certain color) start to flicke
- r. Feeling the denise chip, it seems to be quite warm and when a fan is applied
- to the chip the flickering stops after a short while. Another note: the flick-
- ering does not start until the system is on for awhile. Is it possible that we
- might have zapped the denise chip while installing, by a static chrg? Would it
- heat up like this if it had an internal problem? This problem persists even
- after we remove the shuffleboard (boot floppy shifter) and the hard drive.
- Could the power circuit to the denise chip somehow have got damaged? My friend
- is quite distraut with this development, so any helpful suggestions would be
- very welcomed. Thanks ahead of time.
