  12. I've got the following *big* problem:

  14. I want to run AmigaUnix V2.03 from a Quantum ProDrive  425iS  in  an  A3000
  15. (16MHz, 4+2 MB memory).

  17. But the SCSI bus hangs randomly.  The  A3000's  and  the  drive's  LED  are
  18. burning forever.

  20. It's not likely a problem of the harddisk, because the drive works fine  in
  21. another A3000 (25Mhz, 2+16MB) and it seems to work fine under AmigaOS (2.04
  22. and 3.0), but I tested this only extensively. A Quantum  LP52S  also  works
  23. fine under AmigaOS.

  25. Then I tried another harddisk for Unix, an external Syquest. Same  problem:
  26. the SCSI bus hangs randomly. The Syquest works fine  (under  Unix)  on  the
  27. other A3000 (the 25MHz one).

  29. It's not a matter of termination. I'm sure I always  terminated  everything
  30. right. There are no terminators on the motherboard (that's the right way).

  32. I already tested:

  34. o Q425S as the only drive, attached with the short ribbon cable,
  35.   terminators on the drive installed, tested different unit numbers
  36. o replaced all cables
  37. o replaced the WD33C93A-PL SCSI chip (it's a 00-04 PROTO).

  39. I don't think there's a  general  problem  with  AmigaUnix  2.03  on  4  MB
  40. systems, as I already had such a system running here for a short test on an
  41. A2000/A2630 w/ 4MB.

  43. I didn't change jumpers on the drive (exept for the unit number), as I have
  44. no manual for the drive and the drive works fine in the other A3000.
  45.  
  46. So. What can I  test  now?  It  seems  to  be  a  problem  on  the  A3000's
  47. motherboard. Anyone out there with  an  idea  what  to  check?  Anyone  who
  48. already had a similar problem?
