- I haven't had much to do with CC recently but I had a lot of correspondence
- with them over Wordwise (mainly) and Disc Doctor on the BBC Micro. My
- impression was that they used their customers to test their products.
- There were always annoying faults and peculiarities which could easily
- have been found and corrected had they adopted a professional approach
- to software design and testing. When Wordwise Plus came out it was probably
- the best word processor available for the Beeb, but it still had some
- irritating little quirks.
-
- Maybe things have improved by now, but some very mixed opinions have been
- aired in this thread. I was thinking about getting both FaxPack and
- Impression but two things have put me off. First (I think it was at BETT'92)
- I went along to their stand hoping for a demonstration of both products.
- One chap only wanted to show off Artworks and didn't want to know what
- I was interested in; the other demonstrator was engaged in a long
- conversation with a friend and was quite oblivious to potential customers.
- In the end they lost my custom.
-
- The other reason for not buying FaxPack was that, as already mentioned, it
- is not capable of being used as an ordinary modem, and I don't want to
- have to buy two modems.

- Returning to Wordwise, there's one question I'd like to ask the net.
- With WW on the Beeb I could send any sequence of bytes to the printer
- and control it in any way I wanted. I haven't come across any WP or
- DTP program for the Arc which will let me do this (short of writing
- my own). Any suggestions?
