- This is harder than I expected. Even after reading the
- small amount of info available it's still a mystery.
-
- I just got xntpd version 3.1 and am trying to use it on
- a local network of rs6000's running AIX 3.2. I've never
- tried any ntp before. Once I understand how to configure
- and run it I hope to use it for all the rs6000's and
- Sparc's on this isolated local network.
-
- I turned on REFCLOCK and LOCAL_CLOCK and compiled with no
- problems. Set up config files on Machine A and Machine B.
-
- MACHINE A | Machine B
- server 127.127.1.1 # Machine A | server 147.90.8.40 # Machine A
- peer 147.90.8.41 # Machine B | peer 147.90.8.41 # Machine B
- driftfile /etc/ntp.drift | driftfile /etc/ntp.drift
-
- I execute xntpd on both machines but don't seem to be getting
- any valid data from Machine A to Machine B. I turned on DEBUG
- and get lots of output including the message
- "invalid packet header 147.90.8.40 26" on Machine B.
- I could really use some help. Any ideas?
-
- I'm also having trouble understanding what the content of
- the key file is to look like, how to generate it and how
- to respond to those prompts for Keyid and Password that
- the xntpdc makes.
