I am trying to set up the KA9Q software at home on a PC with a 3Com501 card
and the clarkson driver for it. I am also connected to a KAM through COM2
to the local VHF packet environment. The 3C501 connects it to the VAXstation
running Ultrix at the other end of the room.
I can do FTP and Telnet links between the VS2000 and the PC fine. I can
connect from the PC to a VHF packet station fine.
Now what I want to do is to FTP from my VS2000, through the PC, to a VHF
packet station. This I cannot do. Can somebody who is successfully routing through a PC *mail* me their AUTOEXEC.NET so I can see how they set up the
route statements and figure out what I am doing wrong? According to the KA9Q
book, what I've got looks like it should be right. Do I have to do anything
special on the Ultrix side of things?
In addition, I would like to be able to start NET.EXE as an iconized DOS app under Windows and just leave it iconized. In particular, I would like to be
able to start an FTP session on the PC in the DOS box, iconize it, and have the file transfer continue, and I would like to be able to have the PC route FTP sessions from the VS2000 while iconized. I tried a variety of PIF parameters
without luck. FTPs still stall and time out. Does somebody have this working?
Do I need to change any WIN.INI or SYSTEM.INI parms? (Yes, the PC is a 386/33,
running in enhanced mode.)
Finally, I would like to find a driver I can use for the serial port on the
VS2000 (a BSD driver should do with some tweaks) to use it for SLIP and AX.25.
(Then I can move the VHF activity to the Ultrix box and make it permanently available to local hams for FTP, etc.)
