- Some ideas:
- o What is TCP/IP?
- (Every month or so, someone posts under the belief that TCP/IP is either
- a single-vendor suite, or that it offers the same services as NetWare,
- Vines, LanMan, etc. A one-paragraph description of TCP/IP would help
- avoid this.)
- o I have a network. How do I connect it to the Internet?
- (A reference to an answer elsewhere is probably sufficient here.)
- o What is a packet driver? NDIS driver? ODI driver?
- o Is there a way to redirect my serial port to a TCP connection?
- o Is there a way to redirect my printer to a remote printer? Using lpd?
- o Where can I get an lpd server?
- o Where can I get an NFS client?
- o Where can I get an NFS server?
- o Why are there no free NFS clients?
- o What NNTP news readers are available for MS-DOS? For Windows?
- o How can outside users run software on my computer under MS-DOS?
- Under Windows?
- o I'm running a telnet program but I can't telnet to my computer, even
- if I turn on my FTP server. What's wrong?
- o I can't get packet drivers and program X to coexist. What's wrong?
- o I want source to {Telnet, FTP, TCP, Finger, ...}. Where can I get it?
- o Where can I get an MS-DOS implementation of the BSD Unix sockets
- interface?
- o How do I get specifications for TCP/IP and related protocols?
- o How do I get specifications for packet drivers, NDIS, and ODI?
-
- I'd also suggest splitting the TCP/IP questions into free and commercial,
- since many questions are looking specifically for one category or the other.
-
- Would it be worth having a list of names, addresses, phone numbers, and
- e-mail addresses for vendors? That would answer the perpetual question,
- "How do I contact the authors of WinQVT/net?", as well as the less-frequent
- questions about "How do I contact vendor XXX?".
