  37. Thanks to everyone for their responses!  Ironically, the day after I
  38. submitted the posting, I received the most recent issue of SunExpert,
  39. which said the same thing everyone else mentioned: be sure to mount
  40. /var/spool/pcnfs (or /var/spool) via /etc/exports.  I did that, but it
  41. still didn't work.

  43. I puzzled over this for awhile, and then from out of the blue I came
  44. up with an idea to check my /etc/netgroups file.  I added the DOS
  45. machine's name to the machine list, and everything went hunky-dory
  46. after that.  Don't even ask me why I thought of /etc/netgroups, even I
  47. don't know how I arrived at that.  The manual does not mention this,
  48. too.  I am sort of puzzled why the authentication for file services
  49. still let me pass through, even though the DOS box's IP name was not
  50. on the validation list.
