- In my recent contact with Unix systems programmming, I've come across
- situations that imply several different implementations of the Network File System.
-
- First, regarding the Berkeley BNR2 (BSD4.3) distribution. There exists both client
- and server code for NFS using RPC abstractions. This code was developed by Sun. Sun
- later decided to co-release NFS with BNR2 provided that it keeps its name and
- copyright intact... I ALSO here that there is ANOTHER source release of NFS that you
- can only get by licensing through Sun ?!!? If so, what are the differences in
- functionality between the licensed source and the one I can look at in the BNR2
- distribution.
-
- Second and lastly, I hear there is yet ANOTHER implementation of NFS that was done at
- the University of Guelph? How does this differ from the Sun implementation(s). Also -
- how and where does one get a copy of the U. of Guelph code dfor examination and
- porting?
-
- Thanks!
