  14. In addition to the Fastpaths, Webster Multigates, etc.  Cisco routers
  15. with 9.0 or greater software can also provide MACIP services.

  17. We currently have a couple of users testing TCP over ARNS.
  18. I have a cisco router providing the IP service.

  20. It appears to work just fine.  We have sucessfully
  21. run Eudora and NCSA Telnet over the link.  I've
  22. even tested transferring 5MB files over MacTCP over
  23. ARNS.

  25. The biggest problem we have is with trying to drive the
  26. the serial ports faster than 19.2.

  28. We have Powerbook 170s with Powerport gold modems.  Our testing
  29. so far shows 19.2 is the fastest practical speed you can run.
  30. Anything faster actually ends up being slower (serial
  31. port overruns?).

  33. ARNS is great!  It is allowing us to migrate all
  34. our dial ins to a one modem pool, shared by both Unix
  35. and Macintosh users.
