- In addition to the Fastpaths, Webster Multigates, etc. Cisco routers
- with 9.0 or greater software can also provide MACIP services.
-
- We currently have a couple of users testing TCP over ARNS.
- I have a cisco router providing the IP service.
-
- It appears to work just fine. We have sucessfully
- run Eudora and NCSA Telnet over the link. I've
- even tested transferring 5MB files over MacTCP over
- ARNS.
-
- The biggest problem we have is with trying to drive the
- the serial ports faster than 19.2.
-
- We have Powerbook 170s with Powerport gold modems. Our testing
- so far shows 19.2 is the fastest practical speed you can run.
- Anything faster actually ends up being slower (serial
- port overruns?).
-
- ARNS is great! It is allowing us to migrate all
- our dial ins to a one modem pool, shared by both Unix
- and Macintosh users.
