- This appears to be a similar problem to the the MacTCP over ARA problem.
- The solution, get a hardware box, is not always workable. What we need is
- a software decoder that performs the translations from the AppleTalk link
- prior to the MacTCP link. Supposedly, there are software "pre-routers",
- the question is, do they work in these situations?
-
- To summarize the problem (again):
-
- ==People are using Macs that are connected via modem (ARA or Async
- Appletalk) to Macs that are ==networked using ethernet cards to a system
- with no "Apple aware" router.
- ==
- ==MacTCP is installed on the remote Mac as well as network software that
- accesses MacTCP.
- ==
- ==The "host" machine physically on the net does not know (or can't)
- handle the data passed over ==the phone line.
- ==
-
- Please, no more suggestions like: get a FastPath or GatorBox. We are
- looking for a software solution.
-
- Thanx in advance, email me direct or post software solutions here (a
- large number of people seem to be interested in this).
