- Try Emacs. It's a text editor, has built-ins for text manipulation,
- commands which understand charaters, words, sentences and regions, and has
- an extension language for creating new commands. Best of all, it has a
- learn mode: you edit one unit and it'll redo those same actions on any
- number of other units.
